Bryan Glenn comes to us from the great state of South Carolina, where he is the pianist and band leader of his church, Fort Mill Church of God in Fort Mill, SC. He started playing piano in his small country church in Cold Springs, AL on Easter Sunday in 1980, but started formal classical training with a local teacher in his hometown of Gardendale, AL when he was five years old. At the same time he started playing in church, his aunt introduced him to The Inspirations, which was the first time he had ever heard Southern Gospel quartet singing. He quickly fell in love with them and the style, so he started listening to other groups such as Gold City, The Cathedrals, The Kingsmen, The Speers, The McKameys, The Hoppers, and every other group that was popular in the mid 1980s. Bryan was already in love with this style of music, so there was something else that intrigued him; the piano players! Gospel greats that have gone on such as Wally Varner, Hovie Lister, Anthony Burger, Roger Bennett and Jeff Stice, plus the guys that are still with us such as Gerald Wolfe, Tim Parton, Jamie Graves, Channing Eleton and Garry Jones; all were huge influences on him. But there was one player who was The Inspirations’ studio pianist and arranger that influenced him the most, Otis Forrest. You can hear just about all these guys in his playing style, which he has combined and made it his own. It was during this time in his small home church that Bryan learned to sing harmony with his family, and then sang and played piano in various groups in north Alabama, such as Pure Heart, The King’s Messengers Quartet, The King’s IV and a second round with The King’s Messengers Quartet. While playing piano for The King’s IV, he met Jim Profitt on a Southern Gospel cruise with our record company, Chapel Valley and Sonshine Promotions, and became best friends. Bryan had always wanted to sing with Jim, but because of the distance and the logistics, nothing ever quite worked out, that is until March 19, 2022. Bryan did a photo shoot for PROFITT and sang with them that Sunday morning, and that’s when doors started opening. All of them were in awe of the sound they had and how easy it was for Bryan to fit right in, so immediately Jim made the offer for him to come on board as baritone and pianist. After much prayer, Bryan accepted the position on April 1, 2022 and is thrilled to be here! Bryan has been married to Priscilla Glenn since 1995, and have two children, Tina Brooks and Samuel Glenn.
